Successful Cardio Exercise

Surely, the question of which cardio exercise works best have come up often. No matter what type of cardio exercise you do – low or high intensity – you will burn fat either way. however, is one of them more effective than the other in burning body fat?

When one performs high intensity exercises, the body burns glycogen, a form of carbohydrate stored in the liver and muscles. However, fat is also burned during low intensity exercises.

In truth, it doesn’t burn enough, considering the staggering amount of obese people we still see walking around. Their low intensity routines are not too effective.

Theoretically speaking, the body burns fat during low intensity exercise activity. But high intensity exercise such as running is more effective in burning calories. Some of the calories burned come from glycogen while others come from other areas where fat is stored.

In addition, if you dipping into your glycogen store, whenever you eat high calorie foods, the body will convert them into glycogen to fill the void, instead than storing them as body fat.

High intensity exercise will increase your metabolism, and that will last even in times when you are not working out. A high metabolism will help your body burn calories even when your body is resting after the workout. This reaction is not likely to happen during low intensity exercise or aerobic workout.

In other words, if you have a high intensity routine, you will be burning more calories during and after exercise than you would with a low intensity workout.

One thing you can do is to work some high intensity exercises into your cardio routine by adding some interval training. You can, for example, walk 5 minutes and jog the next five. After that, you can just walk at a fast pace until your breathing evens, and then you can sprint for one minute before you resume walking. This way, you will continue switching between walking and running for approximately fifteen minutes.

Cardio exercise will work on increasing your energy the more you work out. Cardio will burn calories as well, though most people see it predominantly as a routine to increase your level of energy.

If you have never given cardio a shot, you should do it now. If you enjoy exercising, you will find that cardio is a great way to increase your energy and promote a good shape. If this is a new thing for you, starting slow will allow you to increase the pace overtime without exerting yourself too much.
